Joy in dorian

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

I thought it’d be fun to arrange a Christmas carol this year, so I played around with my favorite carol, Joy to the World. Here’s what came out: Dorijoie (1:30).

Recording in progress….

I recorded myself singing with the midi file I made. I need to practice singing it. A lot.

I feel so indie.

percussion is hard

I’m working on this.

Other than that, I started relearning another song. Why can I play Debussy’s Clair de Lune so much better now that I don’t have to? blah.

In other news, I’m going to college in like ten days and I’m in denial.

Finally…

I’d been planning this song in my head for the past month now, and I’d been too lazy to do it. Last night, as I was sitting on my bed lamenting that I was a loser for sitting there doing nothing, I decided to finally start working on it. I spent about three to four hours writing out all the instrumental parts. It’s all right. Now I also wrote lyrics, too, so I’m going to try and find a way to record myself singing with the midi file. Blah! I’m scared. It’s such a retarded thing and I haven’t sung in months. The stress I put myself through.

But I have to do this. Otherwise I’m going to be driven insane by the times the song repeats itself over and over in my head. I guess this is what motivates composers to do their thing.

Ack!! MidiGraphy won’t work! And I can’t find any other MIDI sequencers. I mean, I’m sure I’d find others if I weren’t so sleepy. *sigh* But yeah, that sucks. I guess I’ll just compeuse on the old computer. Not now, though. Now I shall sleep.

Yaaay! I compeused and it took me about two hours! I wrote a song, this time.. with percussion and guitars like promised. I’m not a good lyrics person so I just stole a little Spanish poem I’d found from this random place. It’s nice. Unfortunately, when I uploaded it, the computer played the guitar parts as piano, but eh.. I guess that’s okay. Whatever. It sounds nice with guitars though. Yaaay! I feel so happy now. Hehehe. I’m going to wait for a few days until I put it up, though. I did too much updating today.

Hey everyone! I love you!

Yay!! Yay!! I just put up my new composition! LISTEN TO IT!! I love it soo much, it’s my baby! I’ve probably listened to it for a hundred times by now, *rolls eyes*. It’s giving me a headache. Haha.

There isn’t any percussion in it. However, I did figure out how to change the instruments! So my midi files won’t be all piano from now on! HAPPY STUFF, NO? My next masterpiece will probably be like rock or something, cuz I can now use guitars and percussion! Ahahaha, beware the Bach-admiring nerdy gal trying to write rock. Bahaha.

Yaaaay inspiration and all that crap!

Since last night, I’ve composed two midi files and made two new layouts (I haven’t put them up yet though). The midi files are not so bad. I’d done them last night, but this morning I turned them from atonal intolerable pieces of crap into slightly tolerable files that sort of resemble music. Hehe. I have 5 so far.. Hopefully that number will grow. Maybe I’ll compose again later this weekend.

That’s it for now.. look out for updates.

Aw! I guess today wasn’t a diary day either.. lol.. man I am so bad. Maybe tomorrow, yes tomorrow..

Anyway, hey! I compeused!! I’m listening to it right now.. I downloaded a midi sequencing software and just started playing around with it until I came up with something that actually sounded sorta cool. E-mail me and ask for it if you wanna hear it!

That’s it for today, folks.
